WHAT IS OPTIM™?

OPTIM™ is a wool-processing technology developed for The Woolmark Company. It pre-stretches ultrafine Merino wool fibres before they're spun into yarn and woven into fabric. Once woven, the fabric goes through a wet-finishing process that releases the stretch, pulling the weave into an extremely dense structure.

That density is what makes it possible to build a pair of shorts entirely out of wool that performs like a technical boardshort, instead of a knit jumper.

WHY IT MATTERS

Most water-resistant fabrics get there with PFAS or other “forever chemical” coatings. OPTIM™ gets there through how the fibre is spun and finished.
